Ann is a molecular microbiologist, freelance writer and board-certified editor. Her interests span the breadth of the life sciences — from cutting-edge biotechnology to the plight of the West Indian Manatee — but her expertise lies in the study of disease.

After several years as a researcher, Ann relocated to the 'carpeted' side of the lab to write news releases, magazine features, radio scripts and Web content for a variety of freelance clients, including Nature Education, Molecular Ecology, GreenFacts and Health in a Heartbeat, a daily radio series broadcast on public radio stations nationwide. Ann holds a doctoral degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Florida, with an emphasis on microbiology and immunology.
